Q: Are practices required?

A: No. We understand you also have a life outside of Track & XC. While we highly encourage your full participation, participation and involvement are strictly up to you.


Q: Is a physical required for participation?
A: We do not require our athletes to complete a physical, however, we recommend all athletes are healthy enough to participate in practices. 

 

Q: What is AAU? 

A: The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs.

 

Q: What is USATF?

A: USATF is the National Governing Body for track and field, long-distance running, and race walking in the United States.

 

Q: What is the difference between Flyers membership and AAU membership?

A: Your Flyers membership covers your team membership and training costs. The AAU membership provides you insurance and AAU membership to participate in AAU-sponsored events.

Q: How do I  register my athlete with the AAU

A: Please visit https://aausports.org/Join-AAU and click on  "Apply for youth membership" If you need assistance please contact the coaches. We will provide you with our Club Code once we receive Flyers membership to be linked to our team.

Q: Is an AAU Membership required?

A: YES! 

Q: Is a USATF Membership required?

A: No, this is optional if you chose to participate in those additional competitive meets.

Q: What happens if I’m already registered for the AAU?

A: You can your membership ID # to link your membership to our club team, just ask for our club code. Many athletes already have an AAU membership from other sports, so this is why the cost is separate.

Q: If I only register for the summer can I get a discount?
A: Unfornatually not. As the Summer is our main season, and the majority of our athletes only participate then, the price reflects only that time period. In our case, it pays to pay early as you then are allowed to participate in our year-round training.  

 

Q: How long is a membership valid?

A: Membership is valid from September 1 to August 31. No matter the time of the year the membership is purchased it will only be valid until the following August 31. This goes for AAU & Flyers memberships. 

 

Q: What happens if there is inclement weather?

A: Since we train at the High School facilities, we typically are able to utilize other areas that are sheltered. However, in the event, there is any unexpected weather we will announce practice changes via the team Remind.

Q: There is a meet I'd like to attend not listed on our schedule, Can I compete in it?
A: Yes! Just let us know and we'd be happy to register you.

Q: What should I bring to practice?

A: Please wear comfortable athletic clothing and running shoes, and bring water, sunscreen, and track spikes. 

 

Q: Are Parents required to stay at practices?

A: No, however for our younger flyers we encourage parents to stay just in case of comfort. We are coaches, not babysitters.
